Who We Are

Dahl International Tax Law is a US tax law firm in The Hague. We work for people and businesses across Europe who have to deal with the IRS.

Most advisors don't understand what they don't know. A Dutch accountant can't advise you on US tax law. A US accountant can prepare a return, but can't assert privilege over what you tell them and can't represent you in court. When the IRS questions your filing, you need an attorney.

Christine Dahl leads the firm. She has been a licensed attorney since 1986 and has prepared complex US tax returns for 30 years. She knows the tax life of an international civil servant and now DAFT resident from the inside. She represents people before the IRS, the US Tax Court and the US Court of Federal Claims. She is the only IRS Certifying Acceptance Agent in The Netherlands.

Before opening the practice in The Hague, Christine spent 15 years as a federal public defender in the United States and 8 years as a senior United Nations war crimes prosecutor. She has practiced before the US Supreme Court, the Ninth and Eleventh Circuit Courts of Appeals, and federal district courts in Washington, D.C., Florida, Oregon, Washington and California. Listen to her winning argument in Clark v. Martinez, the Supreme Court case that ended the indefinite detention of people the United States had ordered removed but could not deport.

That is the training we bring to one thorny problem: US tax, from abroad.

Christine also lectures and writes on international humanitarian law, mentors other professionals, and represents people before international tribunals.
